1. VIT conducts entrance test for admission into the B. Tech program offered in its affiliated institutes/colleges.
  2. Maximum age limit is 22 years.
  3. Aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology in +2/ Intermediate.
  4. VIT conduct Computer Based Test (CBT) in April.
  5. All the questions will be mostly from the State Board of HSE and the CBSE syllabus



VIT University, established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, was founded in 1984 as a self-financing Institution called the Vellore Engineering College. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development conferred University status on Vellore Engineering College in 2001. The University is headed by its founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government. In recognition of his service to India in offering world class education, he was conferred an honorary doctorate by the West Virginia University, USA.


Important Dates of VITEEE:

1 Date of Exam: APRIL
2 Issue of VITEEE online and offline application forms starts from November.
3 Candidates can EDIT their submitted online application form (except address column) upto February. This Edit option is applicable only for online applicants.


Computer Based Test (CBT) 

Duration: 2.30 Hours (3 Sessions per day)
Exam Timings (IST):

1 Session – I – 09:00 am to 11:30 am
2 Session – II – 12:30 pm to 03:00 pm
3 Session – III – 04:00 pm to 06:30 pm


Pattern of Exam:

For PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) – 120 questions (Each 40 questions) & English (5 questions) = Total 125 questions
For PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) – 120 questions (Each 40 questions) & English (5 questions) = Total 125 questions
No Negative Marks for wrong answers.

Eligibility Criteria:

1 Candidates appearing for the VITEEE should have secured an aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).
2 The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for the SC/ST & North Eastern State.
3 Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full Time and Formal Education are only eligible to apply.
4 ‘NIOS’ candidates are eligible to appear for the VITEEE.

Applications through Online
Get ready to submit the application form, after collecting the followings:

1 Softcopy (scanned copy) of recently taken passport size colour photograph with 50kb – 100kb (Dimensions – 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)
2 Softcopy (scanned copy) of Signature of the Candidate with 20kb – 50kb (Dimensions – 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm) in JPG / JPEG format
3 Application Fee: Mode of Payment – Internet Banking facility through Net banking / Debit card / Credit card / and Demand Draft Mode

All correspondence including centre booking and issue of e-admit card details will be through email only. Therefore, the applicant is requested to get ready with valid email ID and Mobile Number for contact.

1 Applications will be available in selected Head Post Offices only (List will be released in due course at VIT website)
